Simba's Coronation is a ceremony in which Simba succeeds Scar as the Lion King of the Pride Lands.

Prior to The Lion Guard[]

After the fierce battle for Pride Rock, Scar completes his journey in the Circle of Life, bringing his tyrannical reign to an end. With the support of his pride, his parents, Nala, Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Simba climbs atop of Pride Rock and roars, taking the throne under the rainy moonlight, restoring the Circle of Life.

In the aftermath of Simba’s rise to power, Scar’s followers were forced out of the Kingdom and Simba had been able to restore the Pride Lands and help the animals return home, bringing balance back to the ecosystem. Since then, Simba’s victory over Scar and subsequent ascension has been visually archived in Rafiki’s paintings and an annual celebration had been held to commemorate Simba’s rule.

The Scorpion's Sting[]

On the day of the Kumbuka celebration, the

Lion Guard and Makini look at paintings that depict Simba’s ascension as king following his victory over Scar. Meanwhile, in the Outlands’ volcano Scar’s resurrected spirit ploys to exact his revenge on Simba and the Pride Landers on the anniversary of his dethronement.
