Shenzi's Clan is a group of hyenas led by Shenzi. They are ancestors of Janja’s clan.
History[]
Prior to The Lion Guard[]
Shenzi’s clan lived in the Elephant Graveyard and were restricted from entering the Pride Lands by Mufasa due to their disrespect towards the Circle of Life. They had befriended Mufasa’s younger brother Scar, and together, they made schemes to overtake the Pride Lands.
When Mufasa’s son Simba and his friend Nala were cubs, they escaped Zazu’s watch to reach the Elephant Graveyard. There, they were ambushed by three of the clan’s members; Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. They were cornered and nearly eaten by the hyenas until Mufasa came to the rescue and chased them off.
In the wake of this failure, Scar conspired with the hyenas to take down Mufasa and Simba so that he can become king and the hyenas will eat as much as they please. Under Scar’s orders, the hyenas attacked a herd of wildebeests, causing a stampede which trapped Mufasa and Simba. Whilst Mufasa was able to put Simba out of harm’s way, he was unable to save himself from Scar, who let his brother fall to his death. After which, Scar had sent Shenzi, Ed, and Banzai after Simba, but the cub had escaped and the hyenas left him alone, believing he won’t survive in the desert.
During Scar's reign, the hyenas invade the Pride Lands and overhunt, throwing it into chaos. This prompts an older Simba to return to the Pride Lands to reclaim the throne. A fight broke out between Simba’s allies and Scar’s minions, in which Timon and Pumbaa distracted the hyenas to prevent them from aiding Scar. After Scar was defeated by Simba, the hyenas betrayed and killed him, before leaving the Pride Lands altogether.
In the years that followed the attack on Pride Rock, the hyena clans’ descendants, lead by Janja, remained in the Outlands, learning about the story of Scar, his Lion Guard, and his partnership with the hyenas. Much like their ancestors, he held a great disdain for the royal family and the Circle of Life, and made constant schemes to rule the Pride Lands.

Scar speaks to Ushari
Before Scar became a spiritual lion who lives in the Outlands volcano with Ushari. He was the brother of Mufasa. He worked together with the hyenas on The Stampede and to get rid of Mufasa.
