Sarabi was married to Mufasa and was Queen Consort of the Pride Lands.
One morning, she gave birth to their son Simba, who was next in line for the throne. When she was informed by Scar of Mufasa and Simba's deaths in a wildebeest stampede months later, she was devastated as Scar took the throne and allowed the hyenas to take over the Pride Lands.
During Scar's reign, Sarabi was the only one to constantly refuse orders and try to talk sense into Scar, suggesting to leave Pride Rock, and would constantly be rejected by her tyrannical brother-in-law. She was even physically assaulted. One evening, her young adult son Simba, who survived the stampede, returned to Pride Rock to challenge Scar for the throne of the Pride Lands. After discovering Scar's true colors, Sarabi aided her son in the battle of Pride Rock, resulting in Scar's defeat and death, before watching her son take his rightful place as the lion King.
Not long after, Nala becomes Simba's mate, and took Sarabi's place as the Queen of the Pride Lands. She became the grandmother of Simba and Nala's cubs, Kiara and Kion.
