Sand cat’s fur are yellowish-brown to dull grey, with vague lines on its limbs and several black rings near the black tip of its tail. A dark, reddish streak runs from the corner of the eye down the cheek. The patterns on the sand cat's fur vary between the six subspecies.
The Lion Guard
- The only member of the cat family that lives almost exclusively in sandy desert habitats.
- Digs burrows for shelter from daytime heat; is mainly active at night or during twilight hours.
- Keen senses detect rodents and other small prey, which are thinly distributed in the desert.
