• The episode had 1,521,000 viewers. [1]
  • Moral: If your friend is in trouble, try to help out by doing what's right.
  • In the original press release, Suzanne Pleshette was listed as voicing Zira, despite having passed away in 2008. This was changed a few days later, with no mention of who voices Zira.[1]
  • This also marks the first time in Disney history that Nuka, Vitani and Kovu have been shown in any Lion King media since The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride in 1998. For Zira, it's the first time she is shown since the video game The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure in 2000.
  • This episode reveals that the Outsiders, like the Pride Landers, are enemies with the hyenas, regardless of their unawareness that Scar was killed by the hyenas. It also squares with the idea of Zira originally leading the hyenas who served as her henchmen, but instead outsider lions in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.
  • There are 23 known mistakes in this episode.
  • The way Zira fiddles with a jerboa as she sings Lions Over All is similar to Scar's behavior with a mouse in The Lion King. It is possible that this was a reference to the movie.
  • In addition, the way Zira watches the termites crawl across the rock and then swats them off is similar to what she did in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.
  • While Jasiri takes Kion to her clan, a small bit of animation from Never Judge a Hyena by Its Spots is reused.
  • This is the first time that Zira, Nuka, Vitani and Kovu have seen Kion use the Roar of the Elders
  • Continuity Error: It was established that prior to the events of this episode, Kovu had met Kiara before, as seen in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. After their initial meeting in the film, Zira and her pride are seen living in the area of the Outlands Kion had roared them away to at the end of this episode.
