Lake Matope is a large body of water in the Pride Lands. It is the home of many of the Pride Lands' crocodiles. It is also where Mashindano and Tamasha take place.

The area is a large, muddy lake with an acacia tree looming over. Several rocks are nearby on the outskirts of the water.

Lake Matope
Pua reveals that in accordance with age-old Pride Lands customs, Lake Matope is the site of the traditional mashindano which takes place among the crocodiles.
Later, many Pride Landers turn up to see the battle against Pua and Makuu. Ultimately, Makuu succeeds in defeating Pua, who leaves the crocodile float. Makuu is then seen boasting about his new position as he leads his fleet into the lake, leaving Kion concerned for the Pride Lands' future.

As Beshte gives Ajabu a tour of the Pride Lands, he points out Lake Matope, where Hippopotamuses are lounging in the water.
Ono the Tickbird[]

But before he reaches the lake, Mwenzi returns and sees Ono being pally with Kifaru. This upsets the tickbird and he leaves, causing Ono to go after him. The Lion Guard guide Kifaru to the lake, but Ono returns with news of Mwenzi in trouble. After they rescue Mwenzi, the group all return to Lake Matope to enjoy Tamasha.

The next Mashindano
