Kion Receives the Roar of the Elders is where Kion finds out that he's the Leader of the Lion Guard.

While the first cub of the monarch is destined to become the next Ruler of the Pride Lands, the second born cub gets an amazing gift the Roar of the Elders. Their job is to be leader of the Lion Guard a team of lions who protect the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life. When Kion was a cub he didn't know about the Roar but was shown to be a great leader in "The Lake of Reflection."
Prior to The Lion Guard[]
Many years ago Askari was the first leader of the Lion Guard who had the Roar of the Elders. Also Kion's great Uncle and Mufasa's younger brother Scar had the roar. However Scar lost the roar when he roared at his own Lion Guard.
The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar[]
Kion and his best friend Bunga were playing a game of Baobab Ball when the ball rolls into the Outlands. Bunga claims that he's not scared of the Outlands and jumps in. While looking for the Baobab ball
Kion after using the Roar for the first time
Back at Pride Rock Simba and Nala are with Rafiki and Nala questions if that was Kion's Roar. Rafiki says that it was his roar and that Kion is ready. However, Simba isn't ready to tell Kion but Nala says that he's ready. Kion and Bunga come up to Pride Rock and wonders what's going on. Simba then shows Kion The Lair of the Lion Guard and tells him all about the Lion Guard. Simba then tells Kion to assemble his team of the bravest, fastest, strongest and Keenest of Sight.
Long Live the Queen[]
At Queen Janna's Funeral, Kion tells Rani when he first got the Roar he wasn't sure he was ready to lead the Lion Guard.
