I didn't stick around long enough to see Makuu. But I sure heard him. He said, 'Mmm mm. You look tasty. I'm gonna eat you!'

–Jerboa, The Call of the Drongo

Jerboa is a jerboa who lives in the Pride Lands. She appears in The Call of the Drongo.

Jerboa is a small brown rodent, with dark brown patterns on her back and forehead. She has a cream underbelly. Her hand is pink with three fingers. She has a long, thin tail with a black bushy tip. Her large ears are pink inside. She has black eyes and a small auburn nose.

This jerboa is rather panicky, and very alert to predators. She is ever so slightly brave, and questions who is watching her when she hears a menacing voice.

Hearing 'Makuu'

Jerboa is first seen gathering food for a meal. When she gathers a sufficient pile of greens, she begins to eat them but it startled but a voice. The voice claims to be Makuu the crocodile, and threatens to eat her. Worried, she bounds away with the intent of locating the Lion Guard. She does so, and it appears that Muhangus and a Female Hare have also heard Janja and Goigoi. Kion sends Bunga and Beshte to check the Jerboas area for signs of the croc.

When they arrive, they find no trace of the crocodile, and everything seems serene. The Jerboa comments that Makuu ate the roots he was going to have for lunch.

Imitating Makuu

They regroup, and it turns out that nobody found any trace of the predators. They also reveal that the food for each animal has gone. Although Bunga is certain that it was because they scared them off, Kion isn't so sure, and Ono points out that none of them eat greens. Kion asks them if they definitely saw the three animals, to which they admit that they only heard them. The Jerboa quotes Makuu's words, and both Muhangus and the Hare state the same thing was said to them, too. Kion orders Ono to look for the perpetrators, but straight after he does so, he hears what sounds like Janja in the distance. The Jerboa leaps into Muhangus arms along with the Female Hare, whilst Kion leads the Lion Guard away.

Hearing a voice again

A little later on, she turns up briefly during Bird of a Thousand Voices, where Tamaa demonstrates his special ability to mimic other animals and steal their food without causing any physical harm to the animal themself, leaving Jerboa heartbroken when she discovers her food gone.
