- 5 Notable Hyraxes in The Lion Guard
In the Real World
Rock hyraxes and southern tree hyraxes are small animals with brown fur and rubbery soles on their feet that allow them to climb trees and rocks. They resemble rodents but are not really related to them. Hyraxes are primarily herbivores, but they sometimes eat small insects and lizards as supplements.
In The Lion Guard
In the show, hyraxes are small animals covered in brown or yellowish fur, with a pale stomach, throat and muzzle. Their eyes are brown and their noses are black or pink depending on the color of their fur. They also have small "tusks" on their upper jaws instead of rodent incisors, similar to real life hyraxes. Each has a dark spot on their lower back.

Hyraxes are capable of climbing trees and will feed on the leaves they find there. They rub themselves with snakeskins to deter hungry snakes from eating them. They inhabit the Pride Lands, but some were noted to have taken up residence in the Outlands.

The hyrax is later seen in the Grove of Trees, where it is eating a leaf, unaware that Kion is planning on using the Roar of the Elders there. After it refuses to move, Bunga grabs it and after landing on Fuli, rushes them to safety.
At the end, the hyrax is seen clinging to Bunga, who is no longer smelly.
Four hyraxes are seen sleeping peacefully, unaware that a herd of zebras are stampeding towards them. Luckily, the Lion Guard diverts the zebras away from the hyraxes, and no harm comes to them.

With the hyraxes still thirsty and no other way to transport them across, Beshte proceeds to pick up a large rock nearby, and uses the broken bridge to escalate himself and the rock to the sides, creating a temporary bridge. The hyraxes run across safely, and Beshte is commended for the idea of "The Big B Bridge".
While the Lion Guard were chasing their third dust devil which was heading towards Ukuni Woods. Beshte remembers the hyraxes living there so the guard goes to save them. The hyraxes were fighting over a granadilla and they get knocked out of their tree. Beshte and Bunga catches them while Ono saves their fruit.
After Shujaa directed Kifaru to a watering hole by punching a hole through a rock wall behind them, the gorilla inadvertently destroyed the home of two hyraxes. Beshte then decided to help the hyraxes by carrying them to their new home.
