Bunga, Beshte and the Beast

Hares are mammals that appear in The Lion Guard universe. They live in the Pride Lands.

Appearance[]

The hares featured in The Lion Guard are scrub hares and red rock hares. Scrub hares are primarily gray, while red rock hares have reddish-brown fur. They both have black ear tips. and tails that are black on top and white on the underside. They also have sharp incisors.

Information[]

Scrub hares have a sharp sense of smell and excellent hearing. Their diet consists of grasses, herbs, bark, roots, berries, and fungi. Other than humans, their main predators are snakes and birds of prey.

History[]

The Kupatana Celebration[]

A hare is shown standing next to a hole, presumably the entrance to its den. It hops away immediately after Dogo jumps into the hole.

Surprised hares

During My Own Way, Fuli startles a drove of hares, and they all flee in different directions. Fuli runs alongside one of them for a short time before speeding ahead.

The female hare flees

A hare is peacefully grazing when she hears the voice of Goigoi threatening to eat her. She runs to the Lion Guard to get help. Ono startles her when he lands in front of her, but there is no sign of Goigoi. However, the hare points out that her leafy greens are gone, and says that the jackals must have eaten them.

A hare snatches some seeds

Later, during Bird of a Thousand Voices, a hare grabs a pile of seeds and pulls them into a bush before Tamaa can eat them.

Beware the Zimwi[]

A hare appears to be one of Mtoto's friends, along with a young rhino. She listens to Rafiki's story about the Zimwi. Later, when the rhino thinks he sees the Zimwi, the trio runs to the Lion Guard for help. The Guard then agree to find the frightening beast.

Ono and the Egg[]

Mpishi spots some red rock hares in the way of a mudslide and plans to eat them. She startles them and they flee into empty aardvark dens. Before she can do anything else to them, the Lion Guard appears, causing Mpishi to leave them alone.

One by one, the Guard rescues the hares from the mudslide. However, they forget to rescue Masikio's sister. Kion dives into the mudslide and is able to rescue her, to everyone's relief.

The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar[]

Two hares appear during Fujo, where Beshte saves them from a falling dead tree.

The Wisdom of Kongwe[]

Hares are seen when Fuli sings to Kongwe and Makini about how she sees more when she’s going faster.

Beshte and the Beast[]

Several red rock hares got stuck in a hole after Shujaa used his immense strength to fight off the Outlanders. They are freed by Bunga.

The Queen's Visit[]

Several hares are happy to meet Queen Dhahabu and her herd when they arrive in the Pride Lands.

The Harmattan[]

Hares appear during the song The Tree of Life.
