Cheezi And Chungu

Oh, who's gonna tell us what to do? Who's gonna call us fur-brains?

–Chungu about Janja Janja's New Crew

Cheezi and Chungu are Janja's closest friends as he both appears with and relies on the pair more than any others of his clan, though Janja continuously calls the two "fur brains"
Eye-of-the-Beholder (554)
for their stupidity and can get furious with them when his plans get messed up, sometimes due to their incompetence. In Janja's New Crew, having enough of their screw ups, he exiles them from his clan. But after Nne and Tano betray him, he welcomes them back into the clan.

In Battle for the Pride Lands it is revealed that Janja really cares about them by being really worried after they get trapped inside the Lair and rushing for help.

Nne

Then we catch the oryxes over here, while the Lion Guard's still busy with the antelopes over there!

–Nne to Janja Janja's New Crew

Janja's-New-Crew (183)

In Janja's New Crew Janja, tired of Cheezi and Chungu's idiocy, "fires" them and replaces them with Nne and his comrade Tano. However, the two hyenas betray their leader and leave him on a cliff's edge to chase some oryxes, only to be repelled by The Lion Guard.

Since then, Janja seems to have forgotten about the ordeal and still keeps the two in his clan.

Tano

Actually, Janja, we already have a plan.

–Tano to Janja Janja's New Crew

Janja's-New-Crew (531)

In Janja's New Crew Janja, tired of Cheezi and Chungu's idiocy, "Fires' them and replaces them with Tano and his comrade Nne. However, the two Hyenas betray their leader and leave him on a cliff's edge to chase some oryxes, only to be repelled by The Lion Guard.

Since then Janja seems to have forgotten about the ordeal and still keeps the two in his clan.

Mzingo

Mzingo! What are you doing this far into the Outlands? Looking for leftovers?

–Janja to Mzingo Return of the Roar

Can't-Wait-to-be-Queen (414)

Mzingo used to be an ally of Janja's clan, which is proven when he brings him news of the new Lion Guard and when Janja catches him saying that Ono was injured, what he uses to his advantage and the two often work together, although they sometimes argue. Later, however, he betrays Janja by trapping him and his clan with a fire in the lair. They have made up during the Lion Guard's absence in the Pride Lands

Mwoga

Janja and Mwoga used to be good friends. Mwoga helped Janja with all of his plans when he could, working together on missions. Later, however, he betrayed Janja by trapping him and his clan with a fire in the Lion Guard lair. They have made up during the Lion Guard's absence in the Pride Lands.

Male Vulture

Janja and Male Vulture used to be good friends. Male Vulture helped Janja with all of his plans when he can and worked on many missions. Later, however, he betrayed Janja by trapping him and his clan with a fire in the lair. They have made up during the Lion Guard's absence in the Pride Lands.

Kion

Makuu's right, Dad. If Jasiri believes Janja, I think we should at least hear what he has to say.

–Kion about Janja Battle for the Pride Lands

Kion was Janja's archenemy. Initially, Janja had very little fear of the cub, ever since they first met as cubs when he attempted to steal an egg (which later turned out to be a young Ono, even go so far as to warn him and his friends to leave before they got hurt
Battle-for the-Pride Lands (703)
in The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. But many encounters with the Roar of the Elders has only caused Janja to detest Kion more than ever, with many of his fantasies involving him defeating Kion with little effort. It is almost a given that any encounter Janja has with Kion will result in an affray.

However, after the ghost of Scar double-crosses him, he shows true compassion for Kion and the rest of the Guard, helping them defeat Scar, enforcing Jasiri as ruler of the Outlands, even showing sorrow when Kion leaves the Outlands with a scar on his face.

Sometime during Jasiri's reign, Zira returns to the Outlands, prompting Janja and Jasiri to travel to the Tree of Life in search of Kion, showing Janja's concern for his new ally's home.

He is also a very close friend of Kion because he was one of the guests that Kion invited to his wedding.

Bunga

Oh, Bunga, get off of me. I'm on your side now.

–Janja to Bunga Journey to the Pride Lands

Bunga was one of Janja's arch enemies as he and his clan had antago
Journey-to-the-Pride-Lands (215)
nized him and the rest of the Lion Guard most frequently. When he goes into the Outlands in The Lion Guard Return of the Roar, Janja orders Cheezi and Chungu to bring the honey badger to him for lunch. He later tried to eat him again in Fuli's New Family when he entered in the Outlands alone for a second time, only for Bunga not to take him seriously.

Janja now is friends with Bunga and respects him.

Ono

No. It's just little Ono. All by himself. Ignore him!

–Janja about Ono Ono's Idol

Ono's-Idol (541)

Janja and Ono were archenemies as he and his clan antagonized him and the rest of the Lion Guard more often than any other villain in the show. In Ono's Idol, the young egret creates his own spin that stops him, Cheezi, and Chungu from having a meal out of klipspringers. Hadithi knocked the hyenas into the river afterwards. In Eye of the Beholder, he notices that Ono cannot see properly with just one useable eye, so he plots to eat as many zebras as he wants, but when Ono shows up by Embamba Canyon to help the rest of the Guard, he spoils the hyena's plan. However, after Janja changed sides, he now is an ally to Ono. He also showed genuine concern for Ono when he wound up suffering serious eye damage during the final battle with Scar in Battle for the Pride Lands

Fuli

The-Hyena-Resistance (657)
As with the rest of the Guard, Janja had a deep hatred for Fuli. The only time they appeared not to be hostile toward each other was in Janja's New Crew. They had been enemies ever since Janja and his clan attacked a herd of gazelles in The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. Despite her speed, Janja would still try to trap her, as seen in Fuli's New Family. Janja has since changed sides and works with Fuli and the Guard.

Beshte

Don't worry, Janja. Kion's learned lots of new ways to use the Roar.

–Beshte to Janja Journey to the Pride Lands

The-Hyena-Resistance (30)

Janja really hated Beshte just like the rest of the guard. Beshte was always there when Janja and his clan were on the attack. When Beshte was alone in the Outlands Janja tried to squish him by pushing heavy rocks on him. Janja is now a friend of Beshte. Beshte even let Janja sleep on him.

Jasiri

I know who to trust.

–Janja about Jasiri Battle for the Pride Lands

Janja hated Jasiri for respecting the Circle of Life and for being all nice and kind,
Journey-to-the-Pride-Lands (484)
unlike other hyenas. She did not seem to feel threatened by Janja, and was able to defeat him and most of his clan alone, much to his dismay.

When he tried to kill Jasiri and the two cubs from her clan by throwing them into a steam vent that was about to explode, he stayed to watch her death and no matter what, always attacks her, showing that he badly wants his revenge. He claims that what the two have ain't over yet.

In The Hyena Resistance, despite their rivalry, Jasiri saved Janja from falling into lava, much to his surprise. Although Jasiri offered him to join the resistance, Janja refuses, returning to Scar after hesitating.

In Battle for the Pride Lands, Janja began to doubt his alliance with Scar and began wondering if Jasiri was right. When the skinks report on this, Scar traps Janja's clan in the Lair of the Lion Guard, setting it alight. Janja turns to Jasiri in his time of need and teams up with her to battle against Scar. Together, they help each other defeat Scar and his current minions. In the aftermath, he makes Jasiri the leader of the Outlands (he even says he shouldn't be the leader) and demands that Reirei's Pack, Kiburi's Float, and Mzingo's Parliament answer to them if they disrespect the Circle of Life again, revealing that Janja now cares more about Jasiri and her clan along with his clan members more than he cares about himself.

As of Journey to the Pride Lands Janja and Jasiri never stay away from each other for long and in fact, Jasiri thinks Janja is funny, even when he is scared.

It is heavily implied (but never outright mentioned or confirmed in the show itself) that Janja has romantic feelings for Jasiri, as he is shown to want to impress her by denying his fear of certain things, as well as him never being seen away from Jasiri following his reformation, and even prior to his reformation. He is noted by Ford Riley to be 'confused' about his feelings for Jasiri despite their initial conflicting beliefs.

Madoa

Madoa and Janja were enemies. When Janja knocked Jasiri and the cubs in
Return-to-the-Pride-Lands (29)
a steam vent Madoa got the guard for help. In The Hyena Resistance Madoa helped her clan stop Janja. Madoa isn't really sure why Jasiri saved him but she's glad that they stopped Scar's army. In Battle for the Pride Lands, however, Janja helps Madoa defeat Scar.

Janja was an enemy of Wema's. In Rescue in the Outlands while playing hide and seek with Jasiri and Madoa, Janja's clan starts chasing her. They knock her, her brother and Jasiri in a steam vent. Queen Kiara. Welcome. I'm so happy you considered my proposal. And you came alone. ery smart. We can work out our deal, leader to leader. Just the two of us.

–Janja to Kiara Can't Wait to be Queen

Can't-Wait-to-be-Queen (645)

Janja tried to kill Kiara twice. The first attempt was in Can't Wait to be Queen when his clan attempted to attack her and the second was in The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar when his clan attacks and kidnaps her as part of their plan to revive the Pride Lands' greatest villain, Scar.

However, Janja helps the Royal Family come up with a way to defeat Scar. Janja now respects the princess of the Pride Lands for who she is as of Battle for the Pride Lands.

Simba

And why should we believe you? A sworn enemy of the Pride Lands.

–Simba to Janja Battle for the Pride Lands

Janja hated Simba because he is king of the Pride Lands and didn't allow his clan to enter it. This could also presumably be due to the fact that his ancestors were enemies of Simba and were also previously exiled from the Pride Lands.

Janja aids the ghost of Scar in attempting to kill Simba and take control of the Pride Lands. However, in Battle for the Pride Lands, Janja teams up with the king and now respects him for who he is.

Nala

Never-Roar-Again (67)

When Nala confronts and orders him and his clan to go back into the Outlands, they attempt to attack her and have her surrounded until Kion roars out of anger at the hyenas until they are back where they belong. In The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar, he threatens to kill her again as part of his plan to revive the spirit of Scar. He is also shown to have no respect for the queen at all. As seen in Never Roar Again, he believes that she is weak and powerless.

However, after his reformation, he teams up with her to defeat Scar in Battle for the Pride Lands and now respects Nala for who she is.

Mtoto is frightened of Janja.

When he was playing Lion guard with his friends, Janja and his hyenas began to chase him, and targeted Mtoto specifically. With Beshte's help, Mtoto was able to outwit Janja and Cheezi.

This did not stop Janja from chasing down Mtoto in The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar, and targeting him again in The Kilio Valley Fire, adding to Mtoto's fear of the boisterous hyena leader. However, Mtoto eventually forgives Janja when he comes up with a plan to defeat Scar, proving that Mtoto probably hates Scar more than he hates hyenas.
