I like the Pride Landers, Janja.

–Cheezi's reformation, Battle for the Pride Lands

Cheezi is a male Hyena and was a member of Janja's clan. and a member of Jasiri's Clan. He lives in the Outlands and serves as one of Janja's second-in-commands, as well as one of the main antagonists. As of the season three opening episode, Battle for the Pride Lands, he has reformed along with the rest of his clan.

Appearance[]

Cheezi is a small hyena with two notches in his right ear and one in his left, which are black and round at the top. He has a large reddish nose. He is quite skinny, with a long, spiky black mane that reaches his shoulders and spotted gray fur. Three strands on his mane stick upward and then curl forward above his head, and he has fewer spots than either Janja or Chungu. His muzzle and spots are dark- gray, and his paws are black. His tongue is usually sticking out of his mouth unless he is talking or singing, and he has long canine teeth. His tail is thin and scruffy.

Personality[]

Cheezi is a nervous and shy hyena. He looks crazier than he really is. He usually laughs at random times, and it is common to see him with his tongue out. He has a strong friendship with Chungu and Janja. He is the least aggressive but yet not very smart, and depends on the other hyenas to make decisions or execute Janja's orders well. He is very enthusiastic about fights, even though he hesitates and tries to win them. Despite that, he is quite cute, friendly, affectionate towards the other members of his clan.

Cheezi also shows disappointment when he at first believes that they won't be fighting, and again when his leader makes a hasty retreat.[1] However, he is very hesitant to meet up with the Lion Guard, and often chooses to be cautious around them. If given the chance, Cheezi will gladly follow their rules, so long as he gets something out of the deal.[2]

After the Lion Guard saves him and the rest of Janja's clan in "Battle for the Pride Lands" and Janja changes sides, he becomes good and starts to respect the Circle of Life. Although both and he and Chungu briefly return to their previous villainous ways during the battle for the Pride Lands by threatening the rhinos, this was merely out of habit and they immediately apologize for this after being reprimanded by Janja. He soon learns to fully embrace the importance of the Circle of Life shown when and he and Chungu growl at Mzingo to force him to agree to follow the Circle of Life when Jasiri is appointed as the new leader of the Outlands. They were even willing to fight of Vitani and her group when they still belived her to be evil.

History[]

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar[]

TLG-Return-of-the-Roar (273)

Taunting Kion

Like most hyenas, Cheezi is starving in the Outlands, waiting for his leader to finish off a bone in the hopes there will be something left for him. After contemplating eating a baobab fruit he is sent by his leader, Janja, to get him some lunch - a honey badger. He and Chungu grab Bunga when he enters the Outlands to find his ball. Although Kion is nearby, he and Chungu taunt the young cub, who refuses to enter the Outlands himself. Eventually, Kion lets out a huge roar that sends both hyenas into shock, allowing the honey badger to escape.

Run away!

Later, he and Chungu explain to their leader about what happened, but he doesn't believe them until he receives a message from Mzingo of the new Lion Guard being formed. Janja sings Tonight We Strike as he declares that they will take down as many animals as they can in an attempt to stop this from happening, and Cheezi joins the other hyenas in the raid that evening. However, he is taken out by Kion's Lion Guard and, once Kion uses the Roar of the Elders a second time, he and the other hyenas scatter.

Never Judge a Hyena by Its Spots[]

Never-Judge-a-Hyena-by-Its-Spots (700)

Cheezi prepares to fight

Chungu, Cheezi, and Janja are seen at the beginning of the episode chasing a herd of oryxes in hopes of getting a meal. The clan is quickly spotted by the Lion Guard. Kion chases the clan into the Outlands while the rest of the Lion Guard calm the herd.

Later, Janja assembles Chungu, Cheezi, and the rest of the clan to make sure that Jasiri leaves their territory. When Jasiri puts up a fight, Cheezi fights first, but misses his target and ends up smashing against a wall, landing in a heap on top of some other hyenas. After, the rest of the hyenas' fight. Kion shows up to help defend Jasiri against the clan and the hyenas lose the battle after he performs the Roar of the Elders, and are seen scampering away at Janja's orders.

Can't Wait to be Queen[]

Can't-Wait-to-be-Queen (700)

Cheezi wants a fight

When King Simba and Queen Nala leave their daughter Kiara in charge of the Pride Lands while they attend a funeral, Cheezi listens to Janja's plan to take over the Pride Lands. When Kiara agrees to Mzingo's proposal and travels into the Outlands, he attacks her along with the rest of his clan. When the Lion Guard appears ready to battle the hyenas, Cheezi is surprised when his leader makes a hasty retreat but follows his orders and leaves with him.

Eye of the Beholder[]

Using a lot of dust to conceal their positions, Cheezi and Chungu sneak up on a young wildebeest and prepare to attack it, but are quickly stopped by the Lion Guard, thanks to Ono's keen sight. They make for a fast escape back into the Outlands, where they later hear news about Ono's eye being in

jured from listening in on Mzingo's parliament. This leads Janja to inform them of a new strategy on how to trap the Lion Guard due to this. Cheezi and Chungu still don't understand but are willing to try the plan since it involves food. Cheezi and Chungu create rock piles to stop the Lion Guard, trapping them in a canyon while they feast on the nearby zebras in Chakula Plains. But the plan falls through when Ono returns and moves the zebras, allowing Kion to use his Roar of the Elders to move the rocks containing them inside and leading the hyenas once again scampering back into the Outlands.

The Kupatana Celebration[]

The-Kupatana-Celebration (130)

Cheezi listens to Janja

Cheezi and his clan are seen running through the Outlands, chasing after a jackal pup who had trespassed into their territory. The pup turns sharply, sending Cheezi and the others skidding in the other direction and forming a pileup. Janja rolls free of the other hyenas and advances on the pup, who is backed into a wall, with Cheezi and Chungu on his flanks. Janja recalls that he had chased jackals out of his den the previous day, and decides to make an example of the pup. Cheezi grins as the hyenas charge forward, but when Janja lunges, he is intercepted by Kion, who has come to rescue the pup. Kion orders Janja to leave the pup alone, and Bunga reminds Janja that it's the day of Kupatana.

This amuses Janja, who laughs and tells Kion that if he wants the pup, he can have him. Surprised, Kion steps off of Janja, and the hyena clan retreats further into the Outlands.

Fuli's New Family[]

Fuli's-New-Family (496)

Cheezi reporting to Janja

Cheezi is sitting outside the hyena den when he spots Bunga entering the Outlands. He quickly rushes into the den to tell Janja, who is being groomed by Chungu. When Janja hears the news, the hyenas move out in hot pursuit of the honey badger, hoping to get a good meal. The hyenas surround Bunga, but Fuli arrives just in time to save him from being hyena food. Fuli and Bunga ride down a river full of lava, being chased by Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu. The rest of the Lion Guard arrives, and shortly after the trio of hyenas is trapped on a burning log, once again without a meal.

Follow That Hippo![]

Follow-That-Hippo! (346)

Cheezi and Chungu confused

Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu are sneaking around in the Pride Lands. They manage to avoid Ono's watchful eye by hiding in a bush, but when Cheezi exits their hiding place, a branch swings back and hits Chungu, causing him to physically protest. Janja reminds him that Ono can still hear them, and Cheezi agrees, pointing out that they don't call Ono the "ears in the sky" for nothing. Janja contradicts him before leading Cheezi and Chungu away. The trio later is confused by the sight of Mtoto and his friends chasing a group of hyraxes. Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu follow Mtoto and his friends, with Cheezi choosing to chase after Gumba, but they all manage to escape except for Mtoto himself. The hyena trio traps Mtoto near a lake, and Janja asks Cheezi and Chungu which part of Mtoto they'd like to eat first. Cheezi replies that he'd like to eat the ears because they're chewy.

Follow-That-Hippo! (802)

Fuli knocks Cheezi into the water

But before the hyenas could attack, Beshte comes up out of the water shouting "Twende Kiboko!" The hyenas run backward in surprise, but decide to chase after Mtoto and Beshte by running along the riverbank. Cheezi and Janja attempt to attack Mtoto, but Mtoto ducks, and the two crash into each other instead. The hyenas continue to pursue Beshte and Mtoto, but the rest of the Lion Guard arrives on the scene, and Fuli knocks Cheezi and Chungu into a lake full of hungry crocodiles.

The Call of the Drongo[]

The-Call-of-the-Drongo (399)

Cheezi speaks to Kion

Cheezi, Chungu, and Janja are chasing some impalas until Beshte blocks the hyenas with his behind. Kion issues them with an order to leave, and they do so. After they leave, a voice sounding identical to Janja's leads Cheezi to believe that their leader is going to eat him. Janja disputes this, and the crew soon locates a drongo bird named Tamaa, and Cheezi seizes him. Janja agrees not to eat him, on the condition that he helps with his latest plan.
The-Call-of-the-Drongo (484)

Seizing the bird

Back with the impala herd, Cheezi still has Tamaa trapped in his jaws. Janja goes on to force the bird to impersonate Kion, telling the impala to get out of the Pride Lands and into the Outlands due to the hyenas. Tamaa does so and asks to be released since he did as he was asked, but Janja instead decides to keep him, and Cheezi continues holding onto him.
The-Call-of-the-Drongo (636)

Tamaa is free!

They return to the Outlands, where the impala has gathered together in a gorge. Janja takes the lead, leaving Cheezi still holding Tamaa with his mouth. Tamaa attempts to fool Cheezi and Chungu into letting him go, telling them that with him around, Janja would have no use for them. They soon catch on, so Tamaa impersonates Janja, telling them to set him free. Cheezi quickly obeys, though soon he and Chungu realize the mistake. They decide not to tell Janja and rush over to join him.

The-Call-of-the-Drongo (707)

Cheezi laughs nervously

However, Tamaa starts to impersonate the Lion Guard, worrying about the three hyenas. Although he initially falls for the plan, Janja soon notices that Cheezi is no longer in possession of Tamaa, and questions it. When Cheezi does not present him with an answer, he realizes what is going on, and the hyenas locate the drongo. Just then, the real Lion Guard arrives, and Cheezi retreats into the Outlands with Chungu after their leader is ordered to leave.

Paintings and Predictions[]

Paintings-and-Predictions (294)

Cheezi and Chungu sing Panic and Run

Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu are sneaking around in the Pride Lands when Janja points out a herd of tasty zebras, and Cheezi agrees on their tastiness. He asks his leader what they're going to do, and Janja explains that they'll follow the zebras, spook them, then attack them. Cheezi, Chungu, and Janja then sing Panic and Run as the follow the zebras, laughing when they finish.

Paintings-and-Predictions (474)

Cheezi and Chungu chase after the zebras

Once the zebras reach their home, with the hyenas having followed them, Cheezi asks Janja what they're going to do. Though Chungu wants to chase the zebras right then, Janja tells him that they must wait for Ono, who guided the zebras, to leave. Cheezi reminds Chungu to stick with the plan, then asks what the plan was. Janja orders him to just wait until he says "go". Chungu asks Cheezi what Janja is going to say, and Cheezi tells him to go, accidentally causing Chungu to charge towards the zebras. Cheezi follows, telling his companion to wait for him. As the zebras panic and run, Cheezi races towards them, pointing out that Janja was right.

Paintings-and-Predictions (565)

"We never even saw you coming."

During the attack, Cheezi exclaims that the zebras are fast. He and Chungu chase after a zebra, and Cheezi then declares that the zebras never even saw them coming. As Chungu replies, Cheezi turns to look at him, only to crash into Beshte's backside. Dazed, Cheezi says that they never even saw the Guard coming. A short while later, he and Chungu flee back into the Outlands.

The Mbali Fields Migration[]

The-Mbali-Fields-Migration (829)

Ooooohhhh!

Cheezi, Chungu, and Janja walk approach the edge of a cliff after newborn Hamu whinnies. Cheezi asks Janja if he heard it, and Janja replies that it sounded like a snack- a snack-pack. Cheezi puts his paw above his eye and observes that that isn't all. He worriedly points out that Kion and Bunga are down with the zebras and the gazelles, too, but Janja is dismissive and reminds Cheezi that the zebras and gazelles will panic and run. Cheezi replies, Oh, yeah!, and Janja explains that they will not even need to think to pick off the zebras and gazelles. Cheezi laughs with Chungu, to Janja's exasperation. The hyenas then run down the side of the slope, but as they charge forward, the zebras circle around Muhimu and her foal. Cheezi attempts to frighten them by leaning forward and making a wooing sound and snickering, but the zebras remain where they are. Janja and the hyenas then attack. Bunga tackles Cheezi, rolling him off of his

paws. He holds Cheezi's tail while the hyena spins around in frantic circles and shouts. Still holding Cheezi's tail, Bunga swings him around before letting him go. He is flung into the air and crashes into Janja and Chungu. The hyena trio collapses onto the ground, Janja atop Cheezi and Chungu. The hyenas flee, Janja insisting that he doesn't like zebra anyway and Chungu declaring that it is too chewy. Cheezi, who is the last to leave the scene, agrees and adds that it is also too stripey.

Janja's New Crew[]

Janja's-New-Crew (11)

Cheezi questions his leader

Cheezi, Janja, Chungu, Nne and Tano are nearby, with Janja plotting to use the sticky mud to their advantage whilst they feast on some nearby Wildebeests. Janja, however, slips on the mud himself and comes face to face with the Lion Guard. Cheezi and Chungu slide down to join him, followed by Nne and Tano. Cheezi and Chungu start to embarrass Janja in front of the Guard, inadvertently explaining his plan to them. Angered, Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to blast them away back into the Outlands and Janja leaves annoyed. Soon after, he 'fires' Cheezi and Chungu. He promotes Nne and Tano to be his new crew members, banishing Cheezi and Chungu. Nne and Tano join in on Janja's command, scaring the two away.
Janja's-New-Crew (294)

Thinking about Janja.

Dejected, Cheezi and Chungu are at a loss on where to go after realizing that they have entered the Pride Lands. Chungu considers telling Janja that they finally did what he asked them to do, but Cheezi remembers his former leader's words. Cheezi then suggests cheering themselves up by pretending to be Janja, referring to each other as 'fur-brains'. It fails, and Cheezi starts to follow Chungu as he laments. He soon becomes distracted when he sees some antelopes. He and Cheezi try to roleplay as Janja again, believing that he would want them to get the antelope. They decide to go their own way to catch the antelope but end up going the same way as each other and frighten them away. As the antelope run away, they comment that they hate how fast the prey moves. They perk up when they notice some animal bones near a cliff and decide to eat them instead since they won't move. As they feast, a landslide of mud topples down and sweeps them away.

Janja's-New-Crew (407)
Ono notices the two mud-covered animals sliding down the steep hill and approaching the edge. He immediately alerts the rest of the Guard. Beshte leaps in and uses his body to stop them from sliding down further, and Bunga arrives to brings Cheezi to safety whilst Kion and Fuli bring Chungu to safety (unknowingly). When the hyenas reveal themselves, the Lion Guard is positive that Janja is nearby. Cheezi and Chungu become excited over their leader's possible return and explain to the Guard about what happened. After a short discussion between Kion and Ono, it is decided that they can stay, provided they clean up after the animals by eating only the carcasses, thus completing the Circle of Life instead of interfering with it. Cheezi and Chungu are only too happy to oblige and chow down on a nearby carcass.

Janja's-New-Crew (613)
As Cheezi and Chungu slumber, Nne and Tano pass by them whilst still chasing some oryxes. Janja chases after his new henchmen but collides with his former crew. They are overjoyed to see their leader, but Janja refuses to pay them attention and continues chasing after Nne and Tano instead. Cheezi and Chungu decide that it must have been a dream, and they quickly go back to sleep to dream about Janja again. A short while later, the Lion Guard arrive and wake up the sleepy hyenas to ask if another recent stampede was their doing. But it soon becomes apparent that whilst Janja was involved, they were innocent. Cheezi and Chungu decide that it must have been 'dream Janja', and the Lion Guard realize that he must be around somewhere. Their suspicions are confirmed when they hear his voice, which excites Cheezi and Chungu. Together, they race off after the Lion Guard.

Janja's-New-Crew (734)
They are elated to find their leader on a rock down a cliff. Janja reveals Nne and Tano's plan and the Lion Guard race away, leaving Janja to question who's going to help him. Cheezi and Chungu proceed to leap down, landing on top of their leader. Janja questions how it will help, but it turns out that Cheezi and Chungu just wanted to keep him company.

Janja's-New-Crew (799)

Reunited

Not long after, they hear the Roar of the Elders in the distance. This causes their rock to crumble, and plummet to the bottom of the cliff. The Lion Guard arrive to check that they're okay, before sending them home. Janja leaves first but falters when Cheezi and Chungu don't follow him. He calls for his minions, and Cheezi and Chungu gleefully chase after him. In their euphoria, they bump into Janja and he responds with his usual nickname for them - 'fur-brains'. Cheezi and Chungu gratefully accept his insult and the three-run back to the Outlands.

Lions of the Outlands[]

Cheezi is referenced by Kion. When Jasiri arrives in the Pride Lands with a problem, he asks her if it's Janja and his hyenas, but she replies that it's actually lions causing the problem.

Never Roar Again[]

Never-Roar-Again (27)

Cheezi questions his leader

Cheezi, Chungu, Janja, Nne, and Tano are chased out of the Pride Lands by the Lion Guard, having just stolen one gazelle. They hop over the border but, when their back is turned, Janja leaps back into the Pride Lands, leaving Cheezi to remind him that they were only just kicked out of the Pride Lands with slight agitation. Janja asks them when doing they actually listen to the Lion Guard, and Chungu answers Never for his clan.

Never-Roar-Again (95)

Surrounding Nala

They re-enter the Pride Lands, where Cheezi becomes anxious and concerned having only just been kicked out of there. Janja grows angry towards Cheezi, but before he can say too much, he is interrupted by the Queen, Nala. She orders them to leave, but Janja feigns confusion. Cheezi tries to correct him, but Janja tells him to 'stuff it'. When Nala leaps towards them, Janja is adamant that they can take her on, and Cheezi readies himself for battle. He and the rest of his clan surround her, but Kion arrives just in time to stop them. His anger takes control and he unleashes a very powerful Roar of the Elders, which sends Cheezi and the rest of his clan spiraling back into the Outlands.

Ono's Idol[]

Ono's-Idol (530)

The hyenas approach the klipspringers

Cheezi, Chungu, and Janja approach a group of klipspringers that are trapped on a cliff. Before they can reach them, Ono calls out to get their attention. Upon realizing that he's alone, Janja tells his cohorts to ignore him, and continue. Ono announces that he's going to use the "Hadithi Spin" and charges at them with a selection of strange spins, but ends up crashing into a wall instead. Cheezi and Chungu get excited at the prospect of more food and run over to him while their leader gets the 'main course' ready.

Ono's-Idol (650)

"We know you're all alone, Ono."

When they finally approach the egret, Ono warns them not to come any further. Cheezi laughs, noting that they know Ono is all alone. To his surprise, Fuli appears from around the cliffside and warns them away. Cheezi and Chungu retreat, falling onto Janja along the way. Cheezi apologizes to his leader, while Chungu claims that Cheezi pushed him. Janja ignores their excuses and calls for them to follow him to the klipspringers, which are getting away thanks to the other Guard members.

Ono's-Idol (787)

Cheezi feels ill

When they start to cross, they are startled by Ono and a large eagle as they loop around them. They briefly stop, and Ono calls for Hadithi to continue. Cheezi and Chungu are oblivious to the name, but Janja recognizes it and becomes concerned. With Ono constantly looping around them, the hyenas start to feel queasy. Cheezi complains that he's about to lose his lunch, but the three eventually fall into the water below due to being knocked over. Cheezi questions who "that big guy with the feathers" was, and Janja irritably informs them that it's Hadithi, the legendary eagle, belittling them for not knowing. Much to his further annoyance, Cheezi and Chungu are thrilled to be beaten by a legend.

The Traveling Baboon Show[]

The-Traveling-Baboon-Show (588)

Off to check out the sounds

Cheezi and Chungu are alone outside their den speaking about how hungry they are when they hear some strange sounds. They race away to find Uroho and question him on the sounds. The baboon asks them to take a seat and they do, looking towards him expectantly. Uroho then presents them with a joke, and starts off by saying that "two hyenas go to the watering hole to take a bath". This causes the pair to burst out laughing when suddenly, two other baboons leap on their head to get past them, followed by Janja, who orders them to catch Uroho. He orders them to catch him, but the two hyenas are too amused by his jokes.

The-Traveling-Baboon-Show (693)

Cheezi gets the joke

After Janja reminds them that he's food, they soon comply. But before he leaves, Uroho offers them another joke - What do you call hyenas covered in mud? He then leaps down on the edge of a rock, spraying them with mud. Neither hyena understands the joke until Cheezi realizes that they really e the punchline. They chase the baboons into a clearing but end up becoming dizzy/sick. Uroho guides his friends into a dead-end cave, and the hyenas are able to seal them in.
The-Traveling-Baboon-Show (745)

The baboons cornered

Before they can attack, the Lion Guard arrives, demanding that they step away from them. When the hyenas refuse to back down, the Guard attack, with Fuli facing off against Cheezi. Whilst he's distracted, Bunga then slams into him, and before long, all three hyenas are defeated. They then run back into the Outlands, with Chungu telling his leader the first joke they heard from Uroho. Although their leader does not reply, Cheezi and Chungu laugh together.

The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar[]

The-rise-of-scar (147)

Running into Ushari

With the Dry Season proving tough, Cheezi and his clan try to take down Ma Tembo's Herd in a desperate attempt to get food. But before they can feast, Beshte arrives and headbutts the entire clan. When approached by the Guard, they retreat, trampling over Ushari in the process.

Rather than return home, the clan tries again, this time aiming for Big Baboon's Troop who have joined the elephants as well. Cheezi tries to grab Gumba, but Fuli speeds past him before he has a chance. When he and his clan follow them to a dead-end, Kion almost unleashes a dark Roar of the Elders in his fury but is able to calm himself. When the Roar is performed, the hyenas are sent back to the Outlands.

The-rise-of-scar (492)

Trapping Ushari

When they return home, Cheezi notices Ushari and the hyenas decide to eat him, but Ushari shares some information with them that he gained through Makini, Rafiki's new apprentice. Although hesitant, Janja starts to warm up to the snake after he mentions Scar. Janja agrees to let him gather information back in the Pride Lands, but they will be following him, just in case he tries to escape from them.
The-rise-of-scar (614)

Meeting the skinks

They overhear Ushari's conversation with Makini, keeping a safe distance. When finished, Ushari then reveals some friends of his who can help track down Makini and Rafiki to find out even more information - the skinks. Cheezi and Chungu find the creatures to be creepy and take an instant dislike to them. But they soon leave, with Nyeusi aiming to gather more information. Chungu comments that they're lucky they won't see him, and Cheezi agrees with his friend. Ushari tells them that to get Scar summoned, they need a Bakora Staff and for the Roar of the Elders to be used. After the plot to bring back a legend, the hyenas run over Ushari by mistake in their haste.
The-rise-of-scar (1093)

"You can entertain me!"

They return to the Pride Lands and Cheezi tackles Kiara to the ground, leaving Chungu to pick her up and take her back. They throw her into a geyser pit and laugh at her futile attempts to escape. When Janja leaves to deal with the inevitable return of Kion, he orders them to keep their guests entertained. Unsure of what exactly to do, they start singing to her, much to the cub's dismay. When the rest of the Lion Guard arrives, Cheezi is soon taken out by Fuli, and they rescue Kiara. Cheezi and Chungu wonder what to do next, and Cheezi suggests that Chungu sings to him instead, and he starts.

Let Sleeping Crocs Lie[]

Cheezi, Chungu and Janja arrive to welcome Kiburi and his new float to Scar's army, and hear of Scar's plan.

Swept Away[]

Swept-Away (385)

"Not ME me. Him me!"

In the Outlands Volcano, Janja reminds Cheezi and Chungu that even though Scar is their boss, they are to listen to what he says over anyone else. Chungu asks what he said, and Cheezi replies that "he said listen to me", which confuses Chungu, who is already listening to him. Cheezi then states that he didn't mean 'me me' he meant 'him me' and gesticulates his head towards Janja. Just then, Njano arrives and informs them that Beshte is alone in the Outlands. When Scar appears interested, Cheezi and Chungu also show their (timid) support. When they hear how they'll be able to eat anything they like, they become intrigued. Scar then goes on to tell them of his plan.

When the plan begins, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu watch the skinks lure Beshte into a canyon below Rocky Plateau. Cheezi comments that his plans don't usually work out and Janja reminds him that this is Scar's plan. This cheers Cheezi up, and he believes that the plan might work this time around. Janja agrees but soon becomes angry at what his clan member is saying about his own plans.

Swept-Away (547)

Cheezi and Chungu prepare to push a rock off the plateau

They reach the top and start to push rocks onto the ground, trapping Beshte in a small area. They continue pushing rocks, trying to squash the hippo. After growing annoyed at the hippo's dodges, when he's almost out of room to dodge, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu start to push a very large boulder that they had been saving for last. But the Lion Guard arrive just in time to save their team members, with Fuli stopping the rock from falling. While Kion warns the hyenas away, Ono starts to peck at Cheezi and Chungu but is caught by the latter's teeth. Before Cheezi can take a bite, Bunga pushes Cheezi aside. Kion then backs the hyenas onto the edge and uses his Roar to send them far away. When they get up, Cheezi comments that it worked out about as good as that of his own leaders. Knowing that Scar will be mad, Janja suggests that they don't have to return right away, but Ushari is waiting nearby, telling them that Scar wishes to see him. And he's not happy.

Rescue in the Outlands[]

Rescue-in-the-Outlands (116)

Getting kicked by Jasiri

Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu are in the Outlands looking for the jackals. When Cheezi asks why, Janja tells him that they're being sent to talk to the jackals, in the hopes of creating an alliance with them. He asks if they can eat them then. Jasiri appears and taunts Janja for not re-marking his turf for the dry season, which Janja blames on his clan members for not reminding him. Jasiri offers them a chance to pass, but Janja would rather take it back, and a fight ensues. Janja attacks, but fails. Cheezi and Chungu also attack but are also defeated. The three failed to pass and retreat to the volcano. Once they return, Ushari is hesitant to ask about the meeting with the jackals. The three inform Ushari that they were defeated by Jasiri. Scar hears this and considers adding her to their group, but Janja argues by telling Scar that she's The Worst Hyena We Know. He changes his mind, and instead orders Janja to use his whole clan to "Get rid of her".

Rescue-in-the-Outlands (755)

Confused Hyenas

Jasiri, along with Wema and Tunu is looking for Madoa during a game of hiding and seek. Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu spot them and move into position. When the attack begins, Cheezi, and Chungu chase after the cubs separating them from Jasiri. She defeats several attacking hyenas (including Cheezi and Chungu) and rescues the cubs, but is knocked into a steam vent by Janja, and Cheezi and Chungu decide to watch what happens. But it isn't long before The Lion Guard comes to Jasiri rescue. Cheezi and Chungu along with the whole of Janja's clan prepare for battle with The Guard. During the opening of the battle, Cheezi and Chungu charge Beshte, but he makes quick work of two, knocking them over his head. Later, Cheezi and Chungu are about to attack Thurston. He asks what they are doing in the Pridelands, and this confuses the two, so they ask him for directions back to the Outlands. After two failed counter-attacks, Janja and his clan retreat as Cheezi, and Chungu Join him. Cheezi remarks how The zebra gave them directions back to the Outlands, Chungu remembers that they forgot to eat the zebra, to which Cheezi replies "We can do it next time".

The Bite of Kenge[]

The-Bite-of-Kenge (4)

Cheezi kicks a melon

Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu are in the Pride Lands, trying to steal a supply of Tikiti Melons intended for the elephants through the Dry Season. After Cheezi smacks one across the floor, it breaks open and he asks Janja if he was aware that they contained water. Once Janja confirms that he knows, he throws a melon in Chungu's face away, causing it to land on Cheezi's head and burst open. Before they can take the melons, the Lion Guard arrives. Cheezi tries to run with melon, but Fuli outspeeds him which causes him to trip and stumble.

Defeated, they return to the Outlands Volcano and meet up with Ushari. When Scar shows up, they explain what happened, and Scar orders them to return and take the melons again. Ushari adds that his friend, Big Bad Kenge will be able to help them.

Meeting Kenge

They return as instructed, where they soon meet Kenge the monitor lizard. When he approaches, he quickly strikes fear into the hyenas, and Cheezi becomes shy and admits that he wouldn't want to be his enemy. They ask how he's going to find the Lion Guard, but Kenge states that he's going to let them find him instead. Kenge soon attracts their attention, and Cheezi watches as Kenge bites Kion, Beshte, and Fuli, paralyzing them. When Bunga uses his stench to frighten Kenge away, the hyenas retreat with him.

Trying to avoid Ono

At the patch, the hyenas gather up the melons, and Janja turns to Kenge for help. Kenge quickly establishes his role as their leader, and Cheezi, along with Chungu, admits that Janja is always bragging about how he is in charge normally. After Kenge orders them to roll the melons, Bunga and Ono arrive. Kenge orders the hyenas to leave, but Ono delays their movements. Along with Bunga, the hyenas are stopped in their tracks, until Kenge manages to bite the remaining Lion Guard members. With no one to stop them, they head over to Embamba Canyon

The-Bite-of-Kenge (766)

Cheezi gets bitten

As they move through the canyon, Bunga makes his presence known. As Kenge and the hyenas leave the melons, they miss Makini as she starts to gather up the melons behind them. Bunga starts to taunt Kenge, and Cheezi begins to worry, even nervously warning Bunga not to call him 'little'. When Bunga infuriates Kenge enough, the lizard enters a frenzy and, in his attempt to bite Bunga, accidentally bites Cheezi, paralyzing him. Cheezi suddenly notices the Lion Guard from above but is unable to leave due to his still paralyzed leg. After Kion uses his Roar of the Elders, Kenge and the hyenas are sent back to the Outlands.

The Morning Report[]

Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu are lurking in a bush, waiting for Zazu to arrive. Having been told by Scar to grab him, they wait for the bird to swoop down in a clearing before pouncing. Chungu grabs the bird in his mouth and takes him back to the Outlands.

The-Morning-Report (320)

Cheezi drools on Zazu's cage

In the Outlands, Cheezi, and Chungu keep watch on Zazu, who is trapped in an animal rib cage. While they taunt him, Janja speaks with Scar in the volcano. Zazu is most unimpressed when the two hyenas make weak jokes about his predicament, with Cheezi even drooling over the hornbill. They suggest eating him until Zazu reminds them that it would probably upset their leader. Having narrowly missed getting scolded by Janja, Chungu thanks Zazu for the advice.
The-Morning-Report (427)

"The smart ones"

Zazu tries to persuade Cheezi and Chungu into letting him free by claiming that they are smarter than Janja. He tells them that the smart thing to do would be to let him go free, though this leads Cheezi to confusion. When Zazu decides that they're both the smartest, he seems to understand. Just when Chungu is about free him, Janja arrives. He orders Zazu to talk, but the hornbill is left unintimidated by the trio. When the rest of Janja's clan arrive, Zazu feigns defeat, before crying out at the top of his voice for help. Annoyed, Janja rolls the cage to the steam vent, prompting Zazu to finally give in. He opens up to them about Simba, but none of the information is helpful to the hyenas. But in the distance, his singing is overheard by the Lion Guard.
The-Morning-Report (609)

Running from Bunga

When he finishes, the information is of no use to the hyenas and they decide to eat him instead, letting the steam warm him up. But the Lion Guard arrives just in time and starts to fight Janja's Clan, with Bunga taking on Cheezi, who runs from the honey badger. When the hornbill is saved, Janja calls for his clan to retreat, angry that they received no important information. Cheezi is glad, since, although they learned a lot from the bird, he has already forgotten everything that Zazu has told them about Simba causing Janja to feel annoyed.

Here comes the Lion Guard

Cheezi and several other clan members are chasing Twiga and Juhudi in the Pride Lands when the Lion Guard arrive to stop them. But they notice Fuli, Bunga, and Ono splitting up after the latter spots Reirei's Pack elsewhere. When Nne and Tano fail to slow them down, Janja sends Cheezi and Chungu out. With all four of them combined, they are able to do just that. But to their surprise, their leader calls them back before they are able to cause too much trouble.

Cheezi burns his backside

They meet up with Reirei's pack in the Outlands and return to the volcano, where they hear from Scar about his next plan - to confuse the Lion Guard by splitting up as they had just done so and taken down Rafiki. Scar worries about the mandrill's ability to sense the Great Lions of the Past. After a bit of squabbling, Janja's clan is chosen to seek out Rafiki. When they leave, both leaders argue about who is the smartest, with Cheezi failing to back up his leader's words.

Cheezi learns that Scar is behind the fire

They soon reach Rafiki near Mapango Cliffs, when Cheezi notices a fire that has started rather suddenly as he starts to feel nervous. Janja tells his comrade not to worry, since] Scar is behind the blaze, much to Cheezi's surprise. They surround Rafiki and attack but are quickly overpowered by the mandrill. When the Lion Guard arrives, they are again defeated. Reirei's pack arrives to even out the odds, and Cheezi joins everyone for one final battle against the Lion Guard, Tamaa and Rafiki. But despite giving it their all, they are once again defeated and retreat to the Outlands.

Cheezi trips over Makini's staff

Under Scar's order, Cheezi and the rest of his clan attack the Lion Guard as they make their way up the Outlands Volcano. Cheezi rushes towards Fuli but is foiled when she leaps out of the way, and Cheezi instead plunges into a rock. After he gets up, he attempts again to cause a problem, only for Makini to accidentally trip him up with her Bakora staff, defeating Cheezi.

Later, Cheezi and the rest of the newly formed Army of Scar approach the Lion Guard, cornering them over the volcano. Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to force some of the army away, causing Janja's clan to take their turn. But like those before them, they are left defeated back in the volcano.

The Kilio Valley Fire[]

Cheezi by his leader's side

Cheezi and all of his accomplices set Kilio Valley on fire and drive the elephants out, forcing even the Lion Guard to leave the valley to them.

After he and the other villains successfully take over the valley, Scar appears after Mwoga drops an ember and congratulates them for winning, and proceeds to tell them to stay in the valley, explaining to him and the others it’s all part of his plan to take over the Pridelands piece by piece.

Cheezi stands by Janja’s side when he announces that he was going to be their leader, but he is kicked out of the spotlight by Reirei.

Later, Cheezi is spotted by Ono arguing with the other villains over who should lead the ruined valley.

Cheezi deduces that he ate the morsel

Cheezi and Chungu return to the Outlands to act as a lookout when the two spot a chameleon named Kinyonga on a nearby rock. With both of them hungry (though Chungu is much hungrier than Cheezi), the pair try to bite the chameleon. After Kinyonga 'disappears' in front of him, Chungu believes that Cheezi stole her from him. Cheezi believes he did, commenting on how good she tasted and leaving Chungu dismayed for his friend's actions.

"Uh... I think it was my lunch."

Later, he and the other hyenas heed to Scar's orders and begin to dump rocks into Hakuna Matata Falls to block the Pride Landers' main water source. After Janja orders him to push the biggest rock and they can't, they run off after realizing the rock is actually Beshte in disguise. The rest of the Lion Guard reveal themselves and, when Cheezi questions where they came from, Kinyonga appears to tell them that they learned it from her. Startled by the chameleon, the trio dive into the water. Cheezi realizes that he didn't eat her earlier after all, just before they fall down Hakuna Matata Falls. Once they move to solid ground, Janja decides not to tell Scar about their defeat by the Lion Guard, and blame it on the rocks and foliage instead. Cheezi replies that it's that kind of thinking that makes him Janja before they are chased away by Kion's warning.

Cave of Secrets[]

Cheezic can be seen on a cave painting in the Lair of the Lion Guard.

The Zebra Mastermind[]

Cheezi first appears with Chungu and finds out that Thurston is the real reason the Lion Guard is so successful. The two hyenas decide to take Thurston to Scar at the big meeting that Janja is at. When they talk to Thurston he says that he recognizes them from a previous encounter, and sees them as no threat.  hen asked where they're going, the two tell him that they're going to a big party, with him as their guest of honor. He agrees to go with the hyenas after finding out if there's gonna be snacks at the party. While waking to "the party" Thurston explains that the guard has weak spots one of them being if you rub flowers up to their noises they will sneeze a lot. He starts by throwing rocks at the jackals which makes the rest of the army scared. He soon hits Janja's clan with a stick and makes them leave the Pride Lands. They soon come back to the Pride Lands and are sneaking on some sable antelopes. Once Ono moves the sable antelopes away Kion uses the Roar Of The Elders on the Outlanders and it blows them away. Later they face Basi's pod again and this time there is a fire. Beshte comes to help but his leg gets hurt by a tree. Ono goes to get Shujaa and he comes to save Beshte. Which Way Out?[]

Cheezi, Chungu and their leader Janja are in the Pride Lands. When the Lion Guard spots them, they run towards a large canyon, where they fool the Lion Guard into getting lost inside. The Lion Guard is able to escape the maze though, and Janja orders his henchmen to go after them. They all go different ways and soon realize that they have gotten themselves lost in their own trap.

Trivia[]

  • Both Cheezi's stupidity and tongue position is reminiscent of Ed from the original film.
  • Early concept art from The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar showed that Cheezi was not going to be one of Janja's cronies. Instead, that role would've gone to Nne, who would've presumably had Cheezi's role throughout the series as the tertiary antagonist. However, in the final version, for unknown reasons, Nne's spot was replaced by Cheezi.
